A federal judge late Sunday ordered that the U.S. Postal Service not implement President Donald Trump’s executive order limiting mail balloting.

The Trump administration asked local election officials to add a new barcode to their mail-in ballot envelopes, a demand that would have caused ‘chaos on multiple levels.’ A court ruled on Thursday against implementing new rules that would have required local elections officials to redesign mail-in ballot envelopes right before the election.

The ruling late Sunday by U.S. District Judge Carl J. Nichols in Washington, D.C., a Trump appointee, adds another obstacle to the administration’s effort to rewrite election rules.
